Allison Priestly DeBonnett, Sr. was born on March 21, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois. He ws the youngest of four children born to Maruice, Sr. and Sadie DeBonnett, both of who preceded him in death. Al began his personal relationship with God at a young age when he was baptized at Progressive Baptist Church. Allison was raised in Ida B. Wells, where he learned to cherish community and foster lifelong friendships that ultimately led to him meeting the love of his life and mother of his six children. He graduated from Wendell Phillisp High School in 1957, where he was active in Boys Service Club, R.O.T.C, and T.I.J. (Those Interested in Journalism). Allison,s mother, Sadie, instilled in him the importance of good work ethics and money management at an early age. This led to his working in the neighborhood grocery store dusting off cans as well as having a paper route, earning his own money to afford his desires. Al worked for Montgomery Wards, Quam Nichols, Automatic Electric, and was a licensed insurance agent for Atlanta Life Insurance Company. He began working for Chicago Transit Authority in 1962 as a bus driver. He also enjoyed writing for the CTA Transit News, and retired, in 1979 after suffering multiple injuries that led to his inability to drive the bus. In late 1980's he enjoyed assisting children as a part-time Country Club Hills crossing guard a few hours a day until he could no longer safely endure the pace. Allison married Patricia Louise Bridges in January of 1960, and to their "self-prophesied" union, six children were born, leading him to proclaim that he was a 'rich man'. He joined Trinity All Nations Church under the leadership of Pastor Doris Evelyn Davis in 1967, and served on the usher board, a position he love and always remembered. He was a true provider and quintessential family man, who dedicated his entire life to the needs and wants of his children. His life and legacy is a model testament of a man, brother, husband, father and friend. Allison leaves to cherish his legacy, his sweetheart, 'Patsy', two brothers; Maurice, Jr. (Alice), Obaseki; one sister Zoe Wade; six children: Cerese (Calvin), Allison, Jr. (Janice), A. Robert (Kimberly), Christian (Michelle),Ruth (Trevell) and Mila (Brian); 12 grandchildren: Nicole (Warren), Dominique, Gerald Jr. (Mona), Jennifer, Andre II, Christian Alexander, Jaylan, Raven, Bryce, Mackenzie, Autumn and Jacob; seven great-grand-children; Jamie, Justin, Jaden, Jeramiah, Gabriel, Jillian and a seventh great-child on the way, a daughter-in-law, Carolyn, godsons, Brian Keith Sept-Matthews and James Marlowe, and many nieces, nephews, friends, as well as the Trinity All Nations family.
